The dogs of SP Kennel are the life and blood of everything we do. Their health, care and happiness are our top priority.
On Average, we are the home to 60 sled dogs. About 30 are racing adults, 2 years old or older, 12 are yearlings and 12 are puppies, as well as half a dozen retired dogs. At age 6, we will often look for homes for these dogs. Most have accomplished a great deal with us. They either go to other mushing homes or to "couch potato" pet homes, depending on the dog. There is actually a waiting list for them. If we do not place a

Most of SP Kennel is related to the two grandfathers of the Kennel. Fats, although deaf, is still one of the top gee, haw leaders around. His sons, AJ and Pingo, are the fathers of many of the younger dogs in the kennel. Flood is the other old school leader, happiest dog in the world. His son, Pedro, was Aliy's main leader for 7 years and won the Yukon Quest with her. Pedro has a 4 year old litter and a 2 year old litter at the kennel. Although Pedro and AJ both passed away this passed year, their fathers Fats and Flood both still live at the kennel.
